Contact a Family produces a wide range of information materials for families with disabled children and all those who work with them.
Our library and information team can help answer questions professionals working with families with disabled children, or students may have.
The library and information team also manage the Annette Chumley Library, housed at our head office which holds a range of information and resources of relevance to disabled children, their carers and the professionals who support them.
Answering enquiries
If you are a professional or student and have a specific query you can submit an online enquiry form.
Publications
As well as producing a wide range of publications, reports and parent guides, we also produce a guide for professionals and students, 'About families with disabled children', which gives an insight into the common needs and problems experienced by disabled children and their families. We also produce various publications for professionals such as the ‘health support pack’.
Providing information helps parents feel more knowledgeable and confident in managing their child’s condition and the impact it has on their daily life. Our ‘Promoting Self Care’ guide tells professionals about the information a family might need, enabling them to empower parents to access support.
We also produce Connected, our quarterly magazine. Professionals can subscribe to our magazine for £10 a year.
Monthly newsletter
We publish a monthly e-newsletter, with information about our work and recent news relating to disabled children.
Information on medical conditions
We can give you information on medical conditions, including rare disorders which may affect the family you are working with. Medical information published by Contact a Family in our Directory is written by leading experts in the field, specifically for parents and families.
