Chronic infantile neurologic cutaneous and articular syndrome (CINCA) is a severe chronic inflammatory disease starting shortly after birth. It is characterized by skin, central nervous system and joint problems with recurrent fever and inflammation. The syndrome progresses in a context of chronic inflammation with bouts of fever of varying intensity. The disease affects children of both sexes and all ethnic groups and was first described in 1987 by Dr A M Prieur and Dr C Griscelli. It is a rare condition but is becoming frequently more recognised by paediatricians.
