3.8 million children - one in three - are currently living in poverty in the UK, one of the highest rates in the industrialised world. Poverty can have a profound impact on the child, their family, and the rest of society. Disabled children are particularly vulnerable to living in poverty. But child poverty in the UK is not inevitable.
The campaign to End Child Poverty is made up of more than 100 children’s charities, child welfare organisations, social justice groups, faith groups, trade unions and others concerned about the unacceptably high levels of child poverty in the UK. These groups have united behind the Campaign because there is an urgent opportunity to ensure the Government keeps its promise to reach its targets of halving child poverty by 2010 and eradicating it by 2020.
Contact a Family is part of the End Child Poverty coalition.
