  How you can help

We are very grateful to the organisers of the Sherborne Castle Country Fair. This year we are the main recipient of the Fair's proceeds, following in the footsteps of the Lady Hoare Trust for the past ten years. At present most of Contact a Family's funding comes from government grants, and grants from independent trusts and foundations. Because most of this funding is given only for specific projects, just 15% of our income is "unrestricted" which means we can spend it where we need it most.

  • On average, it costs us £15 to support a family.
  • A donation of £500 would pay for a workshop for local parents.
  • A donation of £4,000 would pay for the production and distribution of one issue of our magazine "Connected".

Since July 2004 we have invested in recruiting more individual direct debit donors via a door-to-door campaign, to boost our unrestricted income in future years and give us long-term financial stability.

Hopefully, this website has shown you the good uses to which our charitable funds are put. There are many ways you can support our work and help us to continue the services we offer to parents and families caring for disabled children.

  • Make a donation by post, phone or online.
  • Make a regular commitment to support our work by making either standing order or payroll donations.
  • And make your donations tax-effective too with Gift Aid.
  • Make a gift of a lifetime by remembering Contact a Family in your will.
  • Why not Give As You Shop when you're next buying something on the internet.
  • For the more adventurous, find out about taking part in making a parachute jump or running the British 10K Open Road Race for Contact a Family.
  • Find out how your company can work with Contact a Family to mutual benefit.

Video Film
A 9 minute film "Away with the fairies" can be viewed via Google Video or YouTube. This film was written, directed and produced by one of our Patrons, Nick Crean, whose family feature in the film. Nick and his family were helped by Contact a Family when his daughter, Georgia, was younger. As a professional film maker, Nick produced this film free of charge for us so that we can raise awareness of the needs of families with disabled children.

Sell your unwanted items via eBay

ebay for charity logoAre you looking for a new and unique way to support Contact a Family?

Now you can sell an item on eBay and donate from 10% to 100% of the final sale price to help families with disabled children. Clean out that closet or loft - you can sell practically anything on eBay and donate a percentage of your proceeds to us.

eBay has partnered with MissionFish, a not for profit service provider, to create the eBay for Charity fundraising programme which makes it easy for charities to benefit from trading on eBay. While listing an item on eBay you can choose to donate a percentage, or all, of your item's final selling price to Contact a Family. Your item will feature a charity ribbon, our name and logo and the percentage you are donating so that buyers know that they are supporting a worthy cause.

To start:
1. Visit http://www.ebay.co.uk/ebay-for-charity
2. Register for your eBay and MissionFish seller accounts
3. Choose an item to sell
4. Write an item title and description
5. List your item on eBay and indicate that it will benefit Contact a Family
6. Complete your transaction - MissionFish will collect your donation, claim Gift Aid (if you declared) and pass both on to us. Thank you.
